KidLitVic Krazy!
Posted on: June 1, 2019Yay! Finally made it to my first writing conference, with my co-conspirator, aspiring author Dhana Fox. Here’s to KidLitVic 2019 – Meet the Publishers! (May 25, 2019) We’ve been waiting for this day, a chance to mix and mingle with the professionals, gain tips and insights into the publishing industry, receive feedback on our own work and be inspired and motivated to keep on writing great stories.

Panel discussions such as this one (see photo) with clever and personable publishing identities Zoe Walton, Clair Hume & Susannah Chambers were intriguing and informative. It was a real pleasure to put faces to names and get a real feel for the people we want reading our work. I was very lucky to finish of my day chatting with Zoe from PenguinRandomHouse, picking her brain about the little things that matter in our submissions. It took a little extra for me to approach her (I could feel the blood rushing to my head) but I was very glad I did (you’ve got to put yourself out there in this game, apparently!)
The KidLitVic 2019 team put on a great event that left me really wanting more than ever to get a foothold into this industry and be able to share my stories and make connections with these amazingly creative people. This is a community that I am so very glad I’ve joined, even if just from the outskirts at this moment in time.
