The Dot

This is the first of the two little gems we brought home from the Truck Library (see my Out & About page).  The Dot tells the story of a little girl who is frustrated in art class – and haven’t we all had that feeling in a class where you just don’t think you can cut it!?  Lucky for this little girl, Vashti, she has an amazing teacher, who feeds her confidence and inspires her in the most subtle way.

While this book lends itself to the message of believing in yourself and having a go, I read it as a tribute to all those amazing teachers out there who find the most unique and creative ways in helping children overcome negative thoughts.  I want to pause and say Thank You for bringing hope, creativity and passion to what you do!  And Thank You Peter H. Reynolds, for such a wonderful book!  Happy reading!
